Here & Now Minneapolis 2022

Who lives like we do? WE DO! Now that I’ve had pizza delivered & ate some, showered and a tiny bit of rest that I fought to get after getting in at 2 am (I fed the cat so he’d sleep & let me get rest) some of my experience & thoughts. So this was my 20th time seeing Kenny since he started to headline 20 years ago, it has definitely grown from sheds & arenas into many thousand seat stadiums. It also happened to be right on Mom’s 70th (oops I mean 30th) birthday, so it was extra special for us to attend together after she had cataract surgery in the past year. She’s able to see to drive at night again, yay! After figuring out it would be my 20th time seeing Kenny I decided to design my own T-shirt to wear, definitely didn’t see another like it in the whole place! I spent weeks printing, ironing-on, stitching patches by hand and stenciled and colored in with markers & paints. I finished it 2 weeks before the show and enjoyed wearing my own custom creation.

I was having issues with my cell phone about a month ago so I decided to upgrade, knowing I had mobile tickets in the upper balcony I needed that to work. And also I have this Nikon app that connects to my camera so I was able to connect them, transfer some stills and share right from my seats on social media, how cool is that? So I bought 1 model newer than Mom’s phone so it was much easier for me to lead her into the mobile ticket I transferred to her account in the app. I also used the Google maps feature to get us to our parking lot next to the stadium, and I noticed as we got closer we were following the Mississippi river, awesome! We visited up north where it begins in Itasca park MN before. We were careful to remember our way from the car to the stadium & back plus I took photos along our short walk for reference, even though it was dark we found the car efficiently. It was our 3rd visit to US Bank Stadium (Kenny & Taylor in 2018). They finally nailed the acoustics by simply adding more curtains in the right places. We finally braved up and tried the chicken tenders & fries, omg definitely recommend it. I whipped my card out and paid for our food and drinks (about $40 for both of us) and I also covered her ticket as her birthday gift, I don’t think I could’ve done better.

Carly & Old Dominion were awesome! I ended the first chorus of Make it Sweet with “meow meow meow” if you haven’t yet check out Old Dominion Meow Mix on YouTube, HILARIOUS! Dan + Shay are good, maybe just not the right fit for this show. Kenny was talking about playing the small stage at the state fair in the early 90’s, had I attended I definitely would’ve watched him but no I had school in GA dang it. There were some obnoxiously loud talking drunk guys behind us so they almost overpowered the openers, but they quieted down for the most part for Kenny. I laughed when 1 of them handed me a lemonade seltzer late in the show, but I made sure it was still sealed before I took it so I brought it home & put it in my fridge at 2 am. Personally I prefer beer, wine coolers or Blue Chair Bay rum, then again I’m almost 40 – EEEK! I’m super tired from storms keeping me up half the night before the show so I’ll just upload my stuff, link it and let you enjoy. We did encounter some rain again but no downpours or storms like the 1st time we saw him just over 20 yrs ago in GA.

I was very impressed with how well my camera did in the almost upper level nosebleeds balcony and I had to show security that it was not a detachable lens camera vs SLR/mirrorless, like the 1 I left at home and will be taking with me to the local fair later this week. I’m entering a wreath and a framed photo of the total lunar eclipse. I don’t plan on doing rides I just wanna walk & eat, and see how I did with my exhibits.

We have 1 more show coming up in 2 exactly months (Judds) shortly before my birthday and then back to school theatre camera work for Willy Wonka (Gene version) in November. It’ll be interesting for sure, waiting to see how they turn the girl into the blueberry haha! I do have some videos but I’m going to check the quality first after I’m well rested and have my head back to more normal-ish, as normal as it gets with autism anyway. We were in upper balcony by a disabled seating section and felt pity for those with crutches & chairs, though they also appeared to be happy to be there just as we were.
