Diamond Rio Tour de Georgia

Diamond Rio performed a FREE concert in Chickamauga, GA as part of the Tour de Georgia Party time at the start line and put on an amazing 90 minute set! I got there as the opener was finishing and got as close as I could, & came back with some good photos. The fan club had their meet & greet around 7:45 PM, and the show started right after 8. The bicyclists will be in my town Friday, and since I am gonna be off work I will be sure to go take some photos. Here is the set list.

Beautiful Mess
Bubba Hyde
Unbelievable

Pause for Marty to tell the people on top of the buildings not to fall off, cuz they could look over & see them fallin’ at any moment lol! Said they were gonna do older favorites they didn’t always get to do & talked about the Greatest Hits 2 CD that comes out in May. I know I will be buying it for sure!

One More Day
Mirror, Mirror
Instrumental, then another plug for Greatest Hits 2
Mama, don’t forget to pray for me
In a week or two
Walkin’ away
Nowhere bound
You’re gone
That’s what I get for lovin’ you (my FAVORITE ballad love song of theirs)
Love a little stronger

Another pause for Marty to do the intro to Redneck Love Gone Bad, that he was ready to marry a girl from PA and she dumped him at the door! Then he met his wife, a Georgia peach, only 2 weeks later & they’ve been married over 20 years. Asked if it was ok to do some new music, heck they could sing the phone book and I’d listen!

Redneck love gone bad
Can’t you tell
Wrinkles
I believe

Dana took the mike to say “Wanna know how much fun we are having? We are having FUN!” Talked about playing in the middle of the road, which was blocked off for the show. Mimicked a woman talking to her husband on a local shopping trip (TOO funny), and not to get excited that Jimmy changed his guitar in for a banjo, not to think about Deliverance and from there they did…

Bluegrass express
Banjo solo from Jimmy, then a duel with Dana & his bass guitar
Marty took a moment to put in a plug for Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

Then they wrapped up their set with:
God only cries (was bawling by mid-chorus thinking of Papa)
Norma Jean Riley
Meet in the middle (the crowd next to me was yelling for them to play it)
How your love makes me feel

They exited the stage, came back out with the encore of:
In God we still trust

Then to top it all off, my station was doing the concert after the concert playing Diamond Rio songs, so I called & said I was just at the show & wanted to hear How your love makes me feel, and they put me on the air & played it!!! I could not even get them to answer the phone this morning so I could talk to the guys for a minute before work, and not just this morning but almost every time I call it is the same thing, so I will probly be changing stations very soon. Gotta get pics up and get ready for bed so I can work tomorrow, thank goodness I don’t go in ’til 11:15!
