Diamond Rio at Granite Falls casino

The day started with me having to look after my 8.5 yr old nephew while Mom had a dentist appointment. I got him into the Simon’s Cat shorts on YouTube lol! I was ready with the Schwans nuggets in the freezer, so I put some in my air fryer for us. Also Weds around lunch is when I usually have my help staff so they brought their own lunches and we just hung out here. After Mom got back she stopped by and I was ready to roll so to save gas I went & sat at Mom’s apartment a couple hrs ’til my brother got off & took the kid home.

After that we were out the door. I was tired from looking after the kid but supper (Burger King in Benson, MN) and the music woke me back up. I stopped by the merch table & picked up an unsigned 8×10 for a local friend before the show. I found spare older guitar picks and some duplicate magnets and a logo bag too that I’ve had a while so I’m adding those with the photo. We had to stop in a couple spots inside the casino and apply sanitizer even though we also used the bathrooms & washed our hands. Gotta say I’m very happy with how the photos came out, then again I spent a lot of time clicking the shutter in the local school theatre lately so I got more experienced with my camera from that. I left it on the same settings I’ve been using. They had a signed guitar for $500, don’t know if anyone bought that but I’m happy to have 1 that I got signed in person at a fan club party in the 90’s. Too bad I couldn’t get Jimmy O to teach me to play it though!

It was our 1st time visiting this casino located about 1 hr away, the Google map had us zig-zagging through residential streets in 1 spot near the venue. I secured our 3rd row tickets online weeks ago after checking dates, venues & time. Once the show started right about 8 pm it was over around 9:30 but they managed to get all the good stuff in. Their long time drummer Brian Prout retired earlier this year but his fill-in Micah nailed it! Also absent was Gene Johnson but in his place a talented lady on fiddle and vocals managed to fill that void. Dana, Dan, Jimmy and Marty are still at it so it was great to see them again. I cackled when Marty picked on the girls in front of us who were too young to remember the 90’s and told them to fake it, that’s what the internet is for! At 1 point 1 of the guys was mentioning all the old shirts (Mom and I were wearing 1 each from the 90’s) so we know they saw us lol! And they promised the new shirts on the table would be old eventually lol!

Got home about 11 pm despite some thunderstorms and culled my camera straight-away, everything is unedited. I love the 4K video quality but I’m disappointed in the tin can sound from the microphone when the full band was playing so I’m still going to be going through videos, might be able to get a couple online. I can say I’m all warmed up for Kenny at the stadium in a couple weeks! I’m gonna charge up the camera batteries and not put them in until we get to the parking lot there. Now back to real life for a bit, I have laundry to do and need to clean the living room again and the rent check needs to be written and prepared to mail. It is almost August, wow!
