On Tuesday, July 1, 2025 I took my cat Dusty in for a planned grooming appointment. I was going to just wait in the lobby & muck around on my phone until he was finished & I’d bring him back home. The vet dr was out of office at the local clinic. I had my own appointment I was supposed to be at that afternoon but I called & cancelled when I thought I’d need to take him somewhere else. I’d noticed he was sleepy but what older kitty isn’t? He didn’t appear sick otherwise.
He slept a lot in my office chair the day before but still escorted me to the bathroom and then to the kitchen that morning where he had his usual breakfast, a can of Fancy Feast gravy. He settled in for a snooze before I whisked him away.
As they got him out to start his intended mini grooming session underway they noticed he sprawled out, was panting & his tongue was turning blue, not good. Not even a few minutes after they took him they were rushing him to oxygen & on the phone with the out of office vet, informing me he was critical and should be seen promptly. They attempted to reach other nearby vets and I was trying to figure out transportation since I don’t have anything to drive but he crossed the rainbow bridge before we could figure out a plan of action.
Rest in Purrs Dusty you were the best kitty in the world and I’ll see you at the rainbow bridge someday. I donated all remaining food, treats, nip, litter & toys to the local shelter for those kitty cats. I’m facing another surgery to get my left foot fixed so I’m taking a break from being a fur mama for now, hoping to add a new fur friend in time when I’m ready. We shared just over 13 out of his 14.5 wonderful years together, the good & bad & happy & sad. I’ll bake the clay paw print & paint the paw print black once it has set and cooled fully. I’m waiting on remains to come back in a plain wooden box as I had no place to bury. I’m sure I’ll find a way to decorate it with Cricut & supplies.
I just got the Maker 4 bundle in seashell pink from microgrant so I’m looking into what I want to make. It joins my Cricut joy & joy xtra.
